One Devon based renewable energy specialist has plenty to celebrate after being shortlisted for both a national Solar Power award and the South West Green Energy Award.

The company from the Marsh Barton Industrial Estate in Exeter, Sungift Solar, has designed and installed systems for organisations including the Met Office and Darts Farm. This week the firm has been selected as a finalist in the 'Installer of the Year' category of two separate events - the national Solar Power Portal Awards and the South West Green Energy Awards.
It’s the first time that the company has been shortlisted for a national award but the sixth time that they have been in the the regional line-up.
“This is wonderful news,” said Ellen Rodger, a director. “The team has worked extremely hard again this year, so it’s great to be recognised for the high quality of service we provide. It’s also reassuring to know that we’ve once again made the finals of the Green Energy Awards – making us the only organisation in the region to be shortlisted for an award six years in a row.”
SunGift impressed judges in the preliminary rounds with their string of high profile installations for organisations such as Gregory Distribution, Exeter City Council and Plymouth Energy Community. Judges were also won over by their state-of-the-art technologies and a raft of customer endorsements on the YouGen website, which cites SunGift as the most recommended ‘Five Star’ installer in the UK.
“We design bespoke systems for all of our customers – whether they’re a homeowner with a small amount of space or a business with huge roof – and ensure that everything is completed to the highest standard. It’s extremely satisfying to be recognised for this.”
The SW energy awards will be judged by an expert panel of judges including Lord Robin Teverson. The final awards ceremony takes place on 25 November at the assembly Rooms in Bath.
Merlin Hyman, chief executive of organiser Regen SW, said: “With so many fantastic nominations the judges will have a difficult task in selecting the winners. What stands out from this year’s shortlist is that the south west continues to lead the development of renewables, delivering innovation both in products and also in new collaborative development models with local communities.”
