Croydon takes steps to cut car use

Growth of I.T. threatens carbon targets

The Committee on Climate Change today released its annual progress report to Parliament. The report warns that the UK is at risk of missing carbon budgets in 2020, despite being on target to meet its first two carbon budgets. The report focuses on improving the efficiency of buildings and cars as well as growing investment in renewable generation and energy efficiency.

London solar scheme focusses on Brixton estate

A not-for-profit organisation which installs solar panels on council estates in south London aims to raise £67,000 for its third project. Repowering South London wants to raise the cash from local investors, including residents, to install the panels on four buildings in the Roupell Park Estate in Brixton.

Proposed eco-village to be powered by dog waste

An eco village where canine excrement is converted to power and heat is to go before planners in Leicestershire. An outline application for the 49-home village off the A607 at Kirby Bellars has been submitted to Melton Borough Council. The plans include an anaerobic digester which converts waste into electricity.
