Giants join forces to protect the arctic

WWF have launched a new three-year project to raise awareness and funds to help conserve the home of the polar bear and create a positive future for the Arctic. The Arctic Home project will combine WWF’s extensive scientific network and conservation expertise with Coca-Cola’s marketing experience and resources.

Solar panels shade canal and save water

An experimental project in India is combining solar photovoltaic panels with an irrigation system in an attempt to save water while generating electricity. A 1 MW array has been built over nearly half a mile of the Narmada Canal in the state of Gujarat.

800 jobs lost through delays to Green Deal

Supermarkets save energy with fridge doors

Supermarkets are replacing the open refrigerators in their stores, which chill milk, meat and shoppers alike and which waste huge amounts of energy. The Co-operative, which already has 100 stores with doors on its fridges, is saving £50m a year in energy bills and cutting its environmental impact.

Rare birds thrive on brownfield sites
