New ways to save energy in the home

New research from the NHBC foundation shows that electrical shutdown could reduce household CO2 emissions by almost one-fifth. The system allows the occupants of a home to conveniently and reliably turn off the power to non-essential electrical items while they sleep or leave the house.

Lack of homes not due to red tape say campaigners

Government figures for housebuilding starts and completions during the three months ending June 2012 recently released by the Department for Communities and Local Government show that although not as bad as they have been, they are still too low to keep up with demand for homes.

Biomass heating for leisure centre

Godalming's new leisure centre, owned by Waverley Borough Council, is about to create a renewable energy project which could lead the field of sustainable public sector development in the UK. Surrey-based LC Energy has contracted to supply fuel to the leisure centre's new biomass heating system.
