Eco Wool - non itch wonder insulation

I have been researching the uses of non itch insulation made from a high percentage of recycled plastic bottles for our renovation. The idea of consuming this mountain in a useful way sounds great but I cant help being a little concerned with stuffing my house full of phthalates, etc. Am I being a bit dramatic? Could these chemicals leach out and become air born in some way. I have read about the possible dangers in exposing ourselves to a lifetime of plastic but this seems to need direct contact.

Phthalates are essentially non volatile they are also naturally occurring in some seaweeds so not a problem

Thank you for that, Tony. However, I am a little confused as I know some countries have been trying to reduce the use of them in plastics over health concerns ( OK - I wiki'ed that bit). Presumable this is to do with the contact with foodstuffs.

If not why are they building up legislation?

You wouldn't happen to be associated with this product would you? If you are, I think the idea is sound given the amount of plastic we need to deal with but the total picture is just a little unclear.

No, I have two degrees in Chemistry and was involved with a research project with seaweed. I can understand wanting to reduce the use in plastics, it helps with moulding processes and no doubt there is concern about it getting into food.

Were you going to be eating the loft insulation?
